Twinkl Review – From a parents view…..

So I have often wondered if I can find things online for H to do in the afternoon when I am working from home, he is at that age where he loves to learn, loves to do craft things and sometimes colouring in and stickers just don’t cut it with him.

H has a sort of weird obsession with mazes and I have spent many a time looking for mazes for him to complete, which led me to http://www.twinkl.co.uk/.  Now I don’t profess to be an early years professional by any stretch of the imagination and I often wonder how they plan things at Henry’s nursery for the children to do.  I also wonder as a parent what activities can I plan for him that are not only fun, but also give him the opportunity to learn and grow.  Apart from the professional aspect of the Twinkl website there is also a great section for Parents and this is what I was interested in.

As the website says, whether you are home schooling or simply supporting your children’s learning from home, you will find lots of resource available for parents, be it reading and writing activities, craft activities, and behaviour management resources there is something for everyone.

In the Parent section you can choose from Craft Ideas, Games and Activities, Pencil Worksheets, and you can browse by category so if you are looking for something relating to home routines and timetables, or numbers it is completely easy to find as the website is so user friendly.

We chose to do the cardboard rocket craft and the hand and foot print aliens and had great fun, everything comes with complete idiot proof instructions and is very easy to download. (No photos of H in action as unfortunately he was covered in chicken pox spots so didn’t think this was a good look!)

There is so much to choose from, our next activity will be the Parents Phonic Pack, I have no idea about Phonics we never did that when I was at school and I want to help H along the way and get it right, it will be like going back to school myself, however Twinkl have great information to enable you to download everything you need.

So a bit more detail for you, Twinkl Resources is your first choice for easy to use, trusted and high quality teaching materials for educators and parents worldwide – professionally crafted materials with a personal touch.  Twinkl has a fantastic online forum http://www.twinkl.co.uk/forum which is well worth having a look at for further information and ideas. They also have a new tool to create personalised resources called Twinkl create http://www.twinkl.co.uk/create which is great for adding that individual touch!

There are three subscription levels to users, one is a free membership that allows access to the majority of resources; the second is the Gold membership which is the high quality, low cost option at £29.95 a year; and thirdly the Platinum membership which allows access to all resources and is priced at £44.95 per year.

So I can highly recommend Twinkl from a parents perspective, it comes up with so many ideas that I wouldn’t of thought of and can help educate your children at the same time.  Give the website a go and you won’t be disappointed.

Disclosure – I received the Twinkl Platinum membership free of charge, but all opinions and views are my own

Buytshirtsonline – T Shirt Design Kit REVIEW

I have had the great opportunity to review a fabulous Fruit of the Loom T Shirt Design Kit from the wonderful guys at Buytshirtsonline.

The T shirt Design Kit gives you a great opportunity to get crafty and design a T shirt with your child, simply go onto the website http://www.buytshirtsonline.co.uk/ and choose the option for the T Shirt Design Kit, once there you can choose any themed transfer you require, be it princess, train or monster theme the choice is yours.

We chose a Thomas the Train Engine transfer and were very excited when it arrived.

The kit arrives with all items that you need to carry out the job including very clear instructions, the transfer is placed face down on wherever you wish to locate it on the T shirt and you iron over it for a very brief period of time on a hard surface, I chose the kitchen table.

Now I am in no way crafty and was concerned that I might make a mistake and it wouldn’t work but to be honest it is idiot proof and worked really well.

Next came the exciting bit for H, you can use the paint to literally design your own T shirt, really good fun for all ages concerned, I was very excited!!

Now H is only 3 so you need to bear with me on the artistic level of the design that has been done by him, but he was very concentrated in his efforts and thoroughly enjoyed himself, I am sure if you had a budding Picasso you could make a truly gorgeous design on the T shirt and make it extremely unique and personal.

I highly recommend buytshirtsonline, this really is a great way to spend with your children and is good for all ages and great value too.

Do take a look at http://www.buytshirtsonline.co.uk/ for not only the Tshirt Kits but some really good value T shirts for all the family.

Roll on summer…..

Have you ever got to that stage where you cannot face another toddler illness?  Well that is me right now!  We have had sore throats, bad colds, head lice, chicken pox and now H has another virus which has made the glands in his tummy swell up!  I feel so sorry for him, he is so terribly low.  I feel so sorry for myself, I need sleep!!  H is so good and still sleeps through even when he is poorly but I spend most of the night awake listening out for him to make sure he is ok. What do you do for your toddler when they are so low?  I feel so concerned that he is going to pick up every bug that is going, his little body looks so frail and weak sometimes.

So again I have been quiet and again I have been tied up slaying germs and bugs in the house.

Roll on summer is all I can say……

eFRAME – Customised frames review – great for framing your little ones art

When I was approached by eFRAME to review their offer I jumped at the chance.  I expect like me as a mum you are forever taking photos of your little one, in fact I have so many photos now I have had to get additional memory for my phone.  Do you wonder how to display these beautiful pictures?  Do you have a budding Picasso at home and feel guilty that all there artwork is shoved in a drawer and not on display?  Well eFRAME can help with that and many more of your framing requirements. I have always struggled to find a good picture framer, sometimes the frames on offer are not quite right for what I want them for, eFRAME resolves this problem. Pop along to http://www.eframe.co.uk and will see a whole myriad of choices from budget ranges through to very extravagant frames, coupled with the ability to customise the frame to be exactly what you want it to be, size wise and design wise, all at very competitive pricing. I chose a gorgeous frame for a photo we have of H and some clip frames to display H’s art.  The theory is we can change these regularly which he is very excited about!  The ordering process couldn’t be easier you can order by frame type or size and the system guides you all the way through the process. Delivery is quick and easy and the product comes very well packed.

Not only that but all items come with the correct fixings on them so no looking round for bits to be able to actually hang the picture!!

So here are the end results which I am very pleased with.

Fixings to hang this gorgeous picture

And finally Picasso himself is pleased with his artwork now being on display!

So I can thoroughly recommend eFRAME for all of your frame requirements, it has made me display pictures and paintings that would have otherwise stayed on a phone or in the drawer. The ordering process can not be any easier and the product is competitively priced and good quality.

Disclaimer:  I received the product from eFRAME free of charge but all words and opinions are my own.

The dreaded chicken pox…..

Sorry for being so quiet. We have seemed to lunge from one illness to the next at the moment.  Unfortunately last week, H had the dreaded chicken pox.  Whilst I feel it is good that he has got it out of the way it has been a hard week.  Normally I am blessed with a child that sleeps through the night no problem, last week was pickled (get the tenuous link!) with 4.30am wake ups and frequent night visits.  I have been dead on my feet!!

Calamine lotion seemed to do the trick for H and we were lucky to only have about 50 spots, he was very good and didn’t scratch so we got off lightly and at least the pox box has been ticked!

I have some great reviews coming up because despite me being quiet it has still been work work work.

Anyone else out there got a little one suffering……..?
